Transparent pricing. In plain English.

Choosing a broker shouldn't mean guessing what they earn. Here's how it works at Smart Source Savings, and what you'll receive in writing before you sign.

How broker pricing works

Energy suppliers pay brokers for arranging contracts. The payment is usually included in the price you pay, typically as a small amount on each unit of energy, so you don't receive a separate bill from us.

Before you sign, we confirm in writing how we're paid for the contract you choose. No hidden fees, no surprises.

What you'll receive from us

  • Every suitable option we find, explained clearly
  • Our recommendation, and the reasons for it
  • Written confirmation of how we're paid, before you sign
  • One point of contact for the life of your contract

Our commitments

Every option explained, not just our pick

So you can see the full picture before you decide.

Written confirmation before you sign

Confirmation of how we're paid for your chosen contract, in writing, every time.

No hidden margin in standing charges

We never inflate daily charges to make the unit rate look lower.

If something goes wrong

Talk to us first: most issues are sorted with one call. If you're not happy with the outcome, our complaints procedure sets out what happens next. If we haven't resolved your complaint within 8 weeks, you can take it to Ombudsman Services: Energy, an impartial service that's free to use.

Ready for regulation

The government has confirmed that Ofgem will become the regulator for energy brokers. We already work to the standards it's expected to set: clear pricing, fair recommendations and access to independent dispute resolution.

Pricing questions

Do I pay Smart Source Savings directly?

Not usually. Like most brokers, we're paid by the supplier you choose, and our fee is included in the price you pay. We'll confirm how we're paid for your contract in writing before you sign.

Will using a broker cost me more?

Our aim is the opposite: by tendering 17 major suppliers and timing your purchase, the price you pay should be lower than going direct, even with our fee included.

Can I pay a fixed fee instead?

For some larger clients, a fixed fee can make sense. Ask us whether it's right for you.
